My plan was to have a quiet get-away somewhere near my house in Paranaque so I chose the nearby province of Batangas. I initially planned on spending a couple of days in Club Balai Isabel in Talisay, just to be able to refresh myself. The loop around Taal lake wasn’t really part of the plan but is more of a last minute decision of instead of going back home, why not take a few more hours and explore the roads in the towns surrounding the lake.Continue reading
The BenCab museum in Asin Road, Tuba, Benguet features the extensive artworks of Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera. Although born in Malabon in 1942, he established his popular museum in Benguet in the mid-1980’s after coming back home from the States after a relatively successful international career when he was based in London. Having finally settled in Baguio City in Benguet, he put up his studio somewhere in the neighboring town of Tuba. During the time of President Gloria Arroyo, his years of hardwork was made official when the Philippine Government conferred upon him the Order of National Artist for Visual Arts. Present day, he is said to be the best-selling painter of his generation of Pinoy artists.
Xplorer Riders Club Philippines aka XRCP, primarily is a collection of motorcycle enthusiasts having the same love and passion in riding. They share the same love for motorcycle riding and exchanging information about their beloved bikes. It all started when 6 people that were total strangers to each other met online and all they had in common is their passion for riding. The rest is history!
Upon reaching the finish line, napahinga ako ng malalim dahil pagkatapos ng 1286 kilometrong puno ng antok, pagod, malakas na ulan, nakakatakot na kurbada sa madulas na daan sa Nueva Vizcaya, rough roads in Cagayan, road repairs sa La Union, 30 kms of zero visibility fog in Naguilian, gutom, time pressure, 8 hours left at nasa Laoag pa lang, pagdadalawang isip kung tatapusin pa pero napagisipan kong mas magsisisi ako habambuhay kung di ko itutuloy. Preparation can only lead you so far, in the end it’s about pushing yourself. Finally, 2016 BOSS Ironman sakin ka na!
I can say that the Ironman has changed my life. Really a triumph of an underdog – Ironman first timer, endurance first timer, no team, no group, no support vehicle, used a non-liter bike, a solo rider but still a finisher in what is arguably the most difficult and definitely the longest Ironman ever at 13 provinces and 1300 kilometers. Masasabi ko na well-deserved itong Ironman na ito dahil pwede ko ipagmalaki na pinaghirapan ko talaga ito.
Being the self-proclaimed foodie that I am, I always make it a point to try out the unique food that one place offers. The Ketchup community offers a unique blend of food in a sense that it is distinctive in offering different types of cuisines in one particular place. It features mostly home grown concept-restaurants in Baguio that make up a “food community” of dining places in one area. Located along Romulo Drive near the Wright Park, it is a perfect destination if you want to satisfy your hunger. I have always wanted to visit this place in the numerous times I have visited Baguio City. This community is made of home grown concepts in Baguio City. The Ketchup Community complements the established restos in the urban Baguio City setting. The place is quite strategic too if you would do a Baguio city walk tour as it is a good destination after visiting Wright Park, The Mansion, and the nearby Botanical Garden.
